The traditional dinner before book club.

While not set in stone, we do have a history that this dinner is often Asian if possible, so why change now? I hosted a dinner for another group at Mai Lee last month and just about everyone was blown away by how incredibly good it was! There are plenty of well-known Vietnamese restaurants in St Louis, but none are better than Mai Lee, and none have a larger menu, either!

They have the best crispy spring rolls I've ever tasted, and their shrimp toast is about as good as it gets too. Their version of Bo Luc Lac - my go-to dish at Vietnamese restaurants - is utterly sublime. This is the dish for people who like steak and think they don't like Asian food! (That means you, James!) And the rest of their eight or so pages of menu is every bit as good... there's something here for everyone, including, of course, vegetarians!

All non-smoking, reasonable prices, and no problem with separate checks; plus it's about five minutes to Irene's house for the book club afterward. (Mai Lee is on the south side of Delmar, immediately to the east of I-170.) Perfect! See you there!
